Harding Partners completed a facility master plan to maximize the capacity of an urban site to support a growing congregation in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago. The master plan evaluated the feasibility of re-using the existing buildings on-site, the optimal sanctuary seating capacity, and the impact of the adjacent railroad tracks on the sanctuary acoustics.
The program includes a 2,500 seat auditorium-style sanctuary, two-story multi-purpose foyer, Children’s church, religious education wing, nursery, café, and bookstore. The unique design of the sanctuary brings congregants around three sides of the platform fostering a sense of closeness and fellowship during worship. The stage provides a flexible platform for worship, dramatic presentations, as well as dance and musical performances. State-of-the-art audio, video, lighting, and digital media production facilities enhance the worship experience and allow for each service to be broadcast around the world.
